In Maharashtra, the Nashik district tops the first and second dose Covid-19 immunization coverage list with 94% and 73%, respectively, for the 12–14 age group. On the other hand, Pune and Mumbai did not surpass the state average of 71%.

The Corbevax immunization program for children aged 12 to 14 began in March this year, but it stalled in Mumbai, Pune, and 12 other districts with less than 70% first-dose coverage. Mumbai stands last on the list, with only 27% of claimants receiving the second shot and 47% of beneficiaries receiving the first dose. With 62% first and 37% second dose coverage; Pune is in a better position than the national average.

According to data from the public health services, Sangli district has administered 92% and73% doses of the first and second doses, respectively, ranking second for both the first and second doses.

Punes health officials cited the decline in Covid-19 cases and parents reluctance to vaccinate their children contributed to the drives stagnation despite special camps. Laxman Gophane, assistant health officer for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), stated that although they were making a lot of effort to increase the daily vaccine response, including the dedicated camps, the fear of spreading the disease among people had vanished. It has caused a drowsy or nonexistent response to the drive.

Just 59,807 vaccinations were administered daily across the state as of Friday at 7 p.m., one of the lowest totals this month. (Times of India, Aug 27, 2022)
